If you are having issues with starting the sod cutter, please take a look at our troubleshooting section regarding starting a honda engine.
Once you have the sod cutter running, there will be three handgrips that will adjust the angle and the depth of the cutting blade.
By turning the handgrip for the blade depth release counterclockwise, you can set the sod cutter to your desired cutting depth by pushing down on the blade adjustment. Turn the blade depth release clockwise to lock the depth in place. At this point, the sod cutter will be sitting on the cutting blade with the back wheel in the air. Once you start cutting, the sod cutter will pull itself level.
With the cutting depth set, you can now engage the drive wheel and the cutting blade. There will be two levers near the base of the machine. To engage the drive wheel or cutting blade, the levels must both be flipped so that they are parallel to the frame of the machine. If the levels remain down (perpendicular to the frame of the machine), the drive wheel or the cutting blade will not activate when the clutch is engaged.
To begin operating the sod cutter, engage the clutch by pushing it forward.
In the picture, the cutting blade will be engaged but the drive wheel will not.
The safety handle must be helded down during operation or the sod cutter will automatically shut off.
